Homeward Bound is committed to preventing and ending homelessness in our community through permanent housing and support.

Who do we serve?

People experiencing homelessness.

Homeward Bound is a local nonprofit whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness in our community with permanent housing and support. Our work is based on three values or beliefs. (1) We believe in the value, dignity, and worth of every human being – no exceptions (2) We believe that housing is a basic human right (3) We believe that homelessness is a solvable problem. We know this because since 2006, we have housed more than 2,400 people and 92% have not returned to homelessness.

Success Story!

After serving his country in the military from the age of 17, James became a journeyman plumber. He was a successful industrial/commercial plumber for 28 years. One day at work, James sustained a severe injury to his toe. Because he had diabetes, his toe had difficulty healing, became infected, and had to be amputated. Because of this medical crisis, James lost his job, his leg and then his home. After living unhoused for several months, he met Molly, Homeward Bound Veteran Services Program Manager. James has been successfully housed and receiving supportive services since 2020. He is now on senior disabled housing waitlists. He hopes to end up in the Vanderbilt apartments and stay there long term.
